IGN reports that Tekken 6 will be coming to the PSP! We already knew that Tekken 6 was slated for release later this year on both the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360. It has already been mentioned that ad-hoc multiplayer will return and the ghost system in which you can upload or trade with other players is back as well. I’d like to see how this will affect the port quality.
TekkenDR looked extremely great for a handheld port, but it took a hit in the graphical area. The drop of polygon count doesn’t really matter because it didn’t affect the speed of the system during actual gameplay, staying at or at least close to 60 frames, but in-between rounds it would drop to 30 frames…
I’m bringing this up because to me, it seemed as if the game would drop from 60 to 30 just for some added graphical effects and a rotating camera between rounds. With Tekken 6 being graphics and graphic effects heavy, how will this affect the processing prowess of the system this time around, along with the break-away floors? Would character models have to take a bigger polygon hit to support the other secondary graphic effects and breakaways? After looking at the screens, I think that definately happened to support the core gameplay and maintain the T6 look and speed at heart.

Wow, I didn’t believe it at all until I saw the screenshots. I totally thought this was a hint that PSP2 was coming or something, but then I saw the screenshots at IGN and they really did go through and reduce the polygon count/sfx. Impressive stuff actually. I might end up gettin a PSP for this.

How exactly? this makes perfect sence in my opinion, I have not heard any mention of the psp edition impacting on release or being superior to the other editions in any way.
Tekken 6 on psp allows NB to cover another market segment and when you think about it psp is a more cost effective entry level console for tekken fans than either the ps3 or xbox360
I think that a ps2 port while most plausable is not necessary and in refernce to the original and fan favorite remark; It just sounds like a marketing gimmick meaning all of the old character plus the additions to Bloodline Rebellion

What does “original” and “Fan favorite” characters mean? Does that imply the new characters as well as the old or does that mean we’ll get a character creation system ala SC?

SC4’s character creation just let you make a custom look based on the (balanced) moves of another character. The most it could change was reach and height depending on Male or Female. Either way they would be banned in tournament play
