UPDATE: Thanks to the PS3 firmware update 1.70, most converters now work with PS2 games!
The PS2/PS3 Converter is a USB convertor that enables both digital and analog enabled controllers/arcade sticks to be used on the PLAYSTATION 3 console. Upon testing, this converter is the best one on the market in terms of lag. There were no signs of lag for this converter in both Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and Virtua Fighter 5.
This was tested in VF5 by enabling autofire on a Hori Real Arcade Pro and referencing the frame counter. Using an Elecom JC-PS201UV converter and an HRAP1 to perform Akira’s P+K+G repeatedly yielded anywhere between 1-4 frames window(usually 3 or 4) of free space between successive P+K+Gs. When using the PS2/PS3 Converter the frame window dropped drastically to either 1 or 2 frames between P+K+Gs.
When testing with single button inputs using the Fighting Stick 3 and the PS2/PS3 Converter the advantage also went to the PS2/PS3 Converter. The Fighting Stick 3 inputting Akira’s P over and over on autofire yielded a frame window in between Ps between 1 and 3 frames, with 3 frames showing up often. When using the PS2/PS3 Converter the window was at a solid 1-2 frames with 1 being the dominant number. Both the Fighting Stick 3 and HRAP1 have the same speed setting for their autofire.
What is even more interesting about this converter is the fact that it allows you to play PlayStation 2 games on the PLAYSTATION 3 console! This is amazing as it is the ONLY converter/product at this time that allows you to play PS2 games on your PS3 without using a SIXAXIS controller. Although we experienced minor lag while playing PS2 fighting games and using the converter, overall it was very responsive.
Unfortunately it is unknown where you can easily purchase this type of converter. There is no brand name and the company that makes these are unknown. Hopefully we will be able to find out more in the near future. Keep checking back! (March 19, 2007).
UPDATE 03/20/07: Upon further testing, the converter is great for PS3 games. I also tested it with Guitar Hero for the PS2 and it works great! There is slight lag however but the game is still playable.

Done in Taiwan by U Way Corporation.
The Model Number is: P3CC-015
Good luck trying that website, though. That’s a webpage for wholesale retailers and resellers, since U-Way is the actual manufacturer. Unless you plan on buying a bulk order of those adapters….
Good find on the model number, though.

I don’t know why everyone else is having this problem…I went to radio shack bought a radio shack ps2 to pc converter, plugged it into my ps3 and it works great! Only problem is on guitar hero theres no whammy bar…And it doesn’t work for two, but no lag whatsoever…Like 9 dollars…
There is no way you could have gotten one of these. All I can find is just manufacturers. If you actually tried this then tell us where you were able to find this. I really wanna play Guitar Hero I and Guitar Hero II on my Playstation 3 but I can’t find the damn thing on the internet. If you could help please do.
i actually have one of these. got them from a random local shop.
Anyone here know if this works on PS3 firmware greater than 2.0?
My old japanese gametech converter stopped working after that update, so i’m kinda skeptical.
has anyone been able to get one of these within the last month? I really need one of these or a Pelican.
There’s 3 of them at least on eBay. I’m not telling you where just in case my bid on the Pelicans doesn’t win.
i think i have the converter listed here. whoever wrote this review of the converter, how did you get the hori real arcade pro stick (HRAP) to sync up with the converter. a problem with the converter is that there is no home or ps button. so the converter doesnt pick up my arcade stick. if anyone is reading this and knows how to solve this problem, please respond to this. for those of you who are interested in the converter here is a link where they sell them individually. the model number isnt the same as what some guy posted a few posts above, but they look exactly the same.
