  13. Di says:

    NYC Fab 3:0 Rain

Now that’s what you call a suprise. I mean, Fab is a great player, but 3:0 against Rain? I hope this match was recorded.

  14. tekkenator says:

awesome tourney so far :)thank you sd

  15. tekkenlover says:

Di are u seriouse? damn, i seroiusely hope someone put it in youtube, go fab

    • Di says:

Yes. NYC Fab used Miguel and he won against 3 of Rain’s characters: Bob, Bruce and Miguel. Unfortunately, the match wasn’t broadcasted.

  16. Di says:

Rain was eliminated by Crow. Holeman will be playing in the Winners Final (guaranteed top 3).

  17. VenoM362 says:

Crow takes out Rain, good job props to Crow. No Korean vs Korean this time around. NYC Fab shuts out Rain and puts him in losers, damn must be a drought in Orlando.

    I’m just saying…

  18. VenoM362 says:

    WOOOOW!!!!!!!! AMERICA WINS!!!
……too bad Kor uses Bob,I hate Bob!!!
……But props for beating the Koreans for the first time. I would have rathered see Lars vs Lars (cause I use Lars myself) VenoM362 goes for whoever plays a character he uses.

I will never rep or cheer for Bob or Paul.
    Don’t hate!
    I’m just saying…

  19. tekkenlover says:

america won? by who? venom tell me how did semi final and final go?

    • VenoM362 says:

      Semi finals: Kor(Bob/Lars) beat Crow (Steve/Bob) 3:2
Finals: Kor (Bob) beat Holeman (Lars) 6:4

Atleast I think those were the scores…VenoM362 forgot.

  20. tekkenlover says:

nevermind i went to mlg website to look at the result dont know it i didnt know they have the ressult, the KOR beat holeman wow, to me holeman is the best player in korea. and rain was defeated twice by 2 different players this clearly shows that in tekken the gap between U.S and korean players are clearly closing. that’s just great.

  21. tekkenlover says:

thx venom and i checked it too if knew they have the results i wouldnt ask, thx bro :)

  22. Kernkraft says:

I guess the koreans just got a lot of pressure by the “This is a US tournament”, and all the trash talk before the event…

when asked, holeman said the players he wanted to play the most were Crow and Insanelee… I guess he underestimated KOR

    • imlinked says:

yeah… i heard there were lots of shit talk against the koreans.

what a fucking shame. where the hell is the e-sportsmanship people!?

it is my sincere wish that the U.S. is closing the gap with the Koreans/Japanese… but not this way, not in this manner.

      • Blind Ghost says:

shit talk ?? what do you mean or the crowds ?? is that what you mean or was it brodcasted ??

  23. tekkenlover says:

dude where did get this about americans dissing korean players? i am sure every single player in mlg was happy to compete against koreans since koreans are really good players guys dont act like childs, if claim something make sure u can back it up give me a single name of any tekken player who was dissing koreans…. i can tell u the answer is none, america won tekken 6 in free for all, thats because of growing talent in tekken community and more people paying attention to fighthing games here thanks to the help peole that trying to put more value on fighting games promote it well people like sdtekken staff members, if wanna be a peofessional u should act like a professional regardless of result

    • imlinked says:

Sure, I’ll back it up. Let me quote a few things said during the tournament.

      “To the koreans…….

Good deal, solid as expected but next time, send over the generals, leave your footsoilders at home, that is all……..

      peace….”

“OMFG that did not just happen. bring the japanese over!”

“you can tell rain is a noob in fashion, wearing stripes over stripes is a no-no”

“This dude holeman is still emotionless…. I wonder how he has sex….lol”

“damn, are these Koreans gonna come to every U.S. tourney from now on to take our money? Greedy bastards”

Most of these quotes were taken from TC, while some were relayed to me by other players. Won’t start calling out names, but that’s what happened.

The general atmosphere wasn’t friendly at all, it was exactly the opposite prior to the start of the tournament.

Feel free to discredit what I said. Here is the source link:

      http://super.gameshot.net/tekkencentral/bbs/zboard.php?id=free&page=1&sn1=&divpage=46&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&keyword=mlg&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=250003

If you’d like, I can ask a friend of mine to translate some of the comments posted there by the Korean Tekken community there… but one things for sure, they weren’t too happy. Not with the results, but with the general treatment/mentality.

Of course, Rain/Holeman could be completely okay with this… but honestly, to me, it seemed like they were really pressured under the atmosphere and weren’t able to perform at their level during singles.

      • imlinked says:

Well, in defense of the some of the shit talk that went on during MLG, some commentators DID note that while the Americans did indeed insult the Koreans, they did also praise them as well.

I guess they realize nothing is definite in Tekken… you win some, you lose some. Main gripe? The shit talk.

Tekken is srs bznss. Koreans take this shit hard.

      • Di says:

To be honest, I don’t know why my report was quoted there (the last quote). I had no intention in insulting anyone and I doubt that text sounds that way.

  24. tekkenlover says:

@imlinked i am sorry if some people said something bad but the last quote on the link that u wrote was completely unfair, where di just said fab beat rain and the gap between american and korean gets smaller and it gives more hope to american players to win the tournament. and that was prety much it, how u or anyone find this comment insulting is beyond me to understand. i cant understand how in the world u think that di report was insulting… do u expect him to say shame on fab for beating rain!?? as far as others comments go thats if that happen is not right at all, but remember trash talking here is happening 24/7 no one is immune from trash talking i cant count the times when people were swearing at me while i was playing on my ps3 , its part of culture here, and last quote in the link that u wrote. i even encourage people to click on ur link and read what di just said and judge for themselves, i can assure u most people agree with me that there is nothing offensive about what di says, not only that but i think its even compliment when he says gap between american and korean are closing…., since korean tekken players always been seen as great tekken players over here. and last just cuz 2,3 players said something stupid it’s very unfair to generalize the whole gaming community here, many of us are hardcore fan of tekken crash and we have nothing but respect for players in europe, asia and other parts of the world.

    • imlinked says:

Hey, you told me to back it up, and that’s exactly what I did. What you find insulting and not insulting is for what the KOREANS are to decide, not you.

You yourself admit some of the comments said during the tournaments were harsh, yet why fall head over heals on what DI said and tell me it was unfair?

Granted some of the things said were to generate hype, SOME were insulting. For your information, the general reaction in the TC forums weren’t at all bothered by what DI said… that was merely icing on the cake and they realize it was hype.

Trash talk is fine when its something like EC vs WC, Norcal vs Socal, etc…. but put yourself in their shoes. You barely understand their language, come into a completely foreign environment and play in a generally hostile environment where it’s all “U.S. of A BIYATCHES!!” and expect them to perform well?

It’s difficult, and that’s the only thing I’m getting at. I believe the trash talk and the general environment (as well as them being in a somewhat bad condition) affected the outcome. Was it wrong of us? Maybe. I certainly think it was, but your opinions may differ. Does this tournament indicate their performance? Definitely not.

Yes, America came a long way and I do believe the skill gap has gotten closer to those in Korea/Japan. But honestly, Holeman and Rain played in less then favorable condition, and to blatantly disregard this fact is being ignorant.

P.S. On the side note, Holeman got into the TC forums and apologized to the community for losing and that he’ll do his best in the next upcoming one in Washington(?). He says that both him and Rain weren’t playing in their top condition (maybe the atmosphere??), but also praises KOR on his victory and mentions that he certainly deserves that one.

  25. apple ipad future…

Hey man I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to write something worth reading . I am all over the internet and I see so much pointless content that is just created for the sake of putting something new on their site . It takes devotion to ma…
