T5DR ONLINE… WHEN!?

We originally put our money on both August 16th, then the following August 23rd as the forthcoming release date for T5DR ONLINE in the US… Sadly it is not coming out this week! But it is coming, SOON! Namco Bandai Games Inc. is working on some quality issues with the title for American gamers and while there is no concrete date, it is soon. How soon? “Within the next couple of weeks…” as told to us by Namco from their Online Gaming media event which happened earlier tonight. So there you have it folks! Release date for USA is to be announced. But be rest assured the wait is ALMOST over!

Keep in mind everyone that SDT is in no way involved with NBGI at all and we’re just reporting the news as we get it!

WHY GOD WHY!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i wanted to play before school starts for me :(

  3. Kevin's avatar Kevin says:

We understand MarkMan, you guys are doing a real good job with the updates.

  4. AROMA's avatar AROMA says:

man when i seen the 23rd i was all excited! now i dont know what to say about namco but i really hope the the wait is worth it

  5. MarkMan's avatar MarkMan says:

    ^^

    @ AROMA

This is NOT Namco’s fault… they’re doing their best to bring it out here!

  6. petsounds's avatar petsounds says:

OMG…I think I’m about to punch some Namco employees in the face. I can’t believe they had a media event and announced that “umm..it’s not ready guys, sorry. just hold tight!” What a — tease.

And MarkMan…how is this “NOT Namco’s fault” ? It’s their software, their servers.

If Japan and HK didn’t already have online, this wouldn’t be such a big deal, but they won’t even let us purchase from their store. I’d pay Namco twice for the online update just so I could play early.

  7. MarkMan's avatar MarkMan says:

Seriously you have to understand, they are already TRYING to bring it out here. The media event is not meant for the general public but merely as way to give their titles exposure to the media/press so that they can give their impressions etc.

Yes it is their software, but so? You think they’re doing this just to spite Tekken fans? This is a business and they will release it when THEY see fit. A lot of people don’t understand the gaming industry and how things work. There are a lot of things that need to be done in order for a title to be released. If it’s not ready, that’s just something that you have to learn how to deal with. It’s not like it will NEVER come out. If it really bites you that much you CAN get the Japan/HK version like we did, just do some research. It’s not that hard to get something off the Japan or HK store as long as you know what to do.

  8. huhu's avatar huhu says:

I think, numco try to lure us to buy jap version first, then they are gonna issue it.

  9. Sailorcancer's avatar Sailorcancer says:

    ALMOST over better mean tomorrow!

  10. Pixel's avatar Pixel says:

Well, atleast it’s the next couple of weeks and not couple of months.

  11. oldirtdog's avatar oldirtdog says:

well you guys can take solace in the fact that namco banned all u.s. players from the jpn/hk versions (after the update they boot up to an error screen) but hey that’s not namco’s fault either right ;)

at least we know they are working on something, though i’d rather it be the u.s. version instead of online banhammers…

  12. Sailorcancer's avatar Sailorcancer says:

What I’m not getting is why didn’t SD Tekken not put next to the dates that it was there estimated guess?

Like I said a year ago… ANYTHING bad that happens to a Namco game, its all bandai fault.

  13. Eddierang's avatar Eddierang says:

I have to say that this is a big disappointment on Namco’s part and not only that on the DR Online version, they didn’t even manage to fix the 3 button press issue with the Virtua Stick High Grade (Yes I know that’s Sega’s Stick but still)

The guy from namco showing it off said it was going to be available at the end of Aug. Most likely means NEXT week >.>

  16. Sailorcancer's avatar Sailorcancer says:

OH and from the gameplay they were showing the game looks freaking done to me.

  17. huhu's avatar huhu says:

    Stupid!!!! Next Week again
I think Next week gonna be Next next Week again

  18. bigmania's avatar bigmania says:

hi guys. i want to ask this . i have 1 mb dsl connection . im in turkey . is this connection enought to play dr online without lags ..???

im waiting for dr online usa its very stupid everytime japans have first !!!

  19. Grave's avatar Grave says:

MarkMan, I understand that you don’t want to pin this on Namco, but seriously, who else can you blame? This is absolutely pathetic. Bad enough that they keep us waiting for this long, and now they ban the international users from the HK and Japan versions, which were apparently working just fine? Wow.

It’s really fucking sad that they waited this long to even say anything. And now they won’t even give us a concrete date. Next couple of weeks? No. Not acceptable. And we really need to let them know this.

  20. MarkMan's avatar MarkMan says:

Like I said in my earlier post, Namco is working with Sony to bring this out as soon as possible.

You guys can point fingers if you want, but I know they’re doing their best, I mean it’s still coming out after all? Just because YOU GUYS think it’s ready doesn’t mean that it is. There are tons of things that need to be approved by not only Namco, but SCEA for this release. I mean, as much as I’d hate to say it, take a long at how long it took for US to get T5DR on PS3 originally.

  21. LAU's avatar LAU says:

don’t look too forward to it.. the lag can make Lee’s d+4444 one of the best moves in the game.

  22. Grave's avatar Grave says:

“I mean, as much as I’d hate to say it, take a long at how long it took for US to get T5DR on PS3 originally.”

Unfortunately, that doesn’t make this okay. If anything, it just makes it worse. There is absolutely no acceptable reason the approval shouldn’t have been going on at the same time.

  23. Noisepurge's avatar Noisepurge says:

Yeah the banning of HK/JP tekken online sucks, i mean come on, we PAID for it already, i hope they re-activate it when the US release is upon us. And 1 MB connection is good enough to play people in your own country. We Finnish people have been playing against each other with little to no lag. But when playing against yankees, its pretty much unplayable. Then again i dont know if the only game servers now are located in japan, so all games go thru japan, dunno. Hopefully the US and EU versions speed things up!!

  24. magick's avatar magick says:

hmm i wonder when itll come out in the uk then? it better get the same release date as the american version

  25. weSUCKagain's avatar weSUCKagain says:

What do you mean UK version?
Thats never going to come out. I think you meant the PAL version. (you know… the EURO version??????)
And I think the banning is well deserved.
The funniest part is that them a-holes with cheap sdtv`s in europe will play tekken dr on 50hz LOLOLOL.
But if you have a HDTV you`ll fine and you`ll be able to play it in 60hz.
I also hope namco is going to ban euro players if they are logging onto the US servers with their US copies, so the game experience will be better (bigger euro community, our own EURO servers)
I know the game is P2P based but you gotta respect namco`s decision for making different version for different regions.
PS. people who share their account are stupid imho, but thats another story.

    thats all for now..
    peace

  26. NEXt Phaze's avatar NEXt Phaze says:

Hey MarkMan, I applaud you for your loyalty to Namco and Sony on why they are taking so long to bring out Tekken Online here in the States. But, the fact is that this is poor customer service to people who bought Tekken both for Japanese release and the United States release. Both companies have been in business for a long time and they know what it takes to get a game released. You’re making them sound like amateurs having their grand opening. Don’t defend the indefensible poor customer service is poor customer service. With loyal customers such as ourselves who support Sony and Namco you would think they would go out of their way to bring out Tekken Online early to show their appreciation to their dedicated fans.

  27. Gojira's avatar Gojira says:

I’m guessing they ban people from using the asian version because they can’t connect with asian servers without slowing everything down. Frankly I don’t care.

Anyway, quality issue? Some QA tester didn’t like the lag, I guess. Should I be surprised?

  28. magick's avatar magick says:

what do you mean the uk version is never coming out? are you a fucking idiot? because when i said uk i generally meant EUROPEAN version

  29. tenkaix's avatar tenkaix says:

well i hope it comes out soon, this is the second week that ive been getting hyped up over nothing. and frankly im strarting to lose hype and just say fuck it , it will come out whenever. and i agree with some of the posters here too markman, namco has been in the buisness for a while, if they knew it was gonna take this long they shouldnt have announced the date so soon for the US release.

  30. Trieloth's avatar Trieloth says:

I can wait!! Gives me time to get more outfits for my dudes. Keep up the good work MarkMan!

  31. MarkMan's avatar MarkMan says:

Again, Namco nor Sony NEVER announced a release date for the US.

So is it still their fault for delaying something that they never announced a release date for? Think about it.

The 16th was for the English version in Asia/HK and the 23rd was poor speculation on our part(we assumed since the Namco online event for T5DR was on the 21st). That is all.

All this banter is useless, we should just be happy that it is coming lol.

  32. Eddierang's avatar Eddierang says:

Come on Markman, I didn’t know that the customer has to be grateful that Namco is bringing out such an awesome gameport at a point where tournament season for Tekken 5 DR is about to end and Tekken 6 starting in a few months. I guess if Namco does bomb on Tekken 6 like they did on Tekken 4 I guess we’re going to be holding more tournaments for DR over T6. I hope the final release for Tekken 6 does kick ass by the way.

  33. MarkMan's avatar MarkMan says:

Sadly enough, regarding T6 in arcades, it doesn’t look like US will get an official wide release for T6 arcade machines/boards.

I’m sure that won’t stop ppl from importing the Japanese or Asian T6 board though lol…

  34. Hidinger's avatar Hidinger says:

PSN Store Updated. Just some trailers and videos, no Tekken Online, as expected.

  35. Sailorcancer's avatar Sailorcancer says:

Folklore demo was in it, so this was an OK update. That guy better be right when he said that he comes out end of Aug.

  36. TurkishBoy's avatar TurkishBoy says:

Damn those fucking biatchs & Liars Namco Bandai Fucking Lamer employees, Like i think to do, They wont release that US version and wont carry out successfully , Coz they’re keep waiting(Delaying) the Online update, by the way the Online Patch arrived. They all doing stinginess. If Fuckng Namco doesnt release the online patch for 30 agust, I’ll Curse That fucking Son of a biatches..

  37. Rip's avatar Rip says:

MarkMan: “I’m sure that won’t stop ppl from importing the Japanese or Asian T6 board though lol…”

Hahah, and then Namco will release a necessary version update that will make the Jap/Asian T6 board unusable in the United States after their customers have paid for it haha. ;D

Oh well, its not out today. Evo is this weekend. Now I won’t need it until like.. end of September, so hopefully it’ll be out by then.

  38. Stagger Lee's avatar Stagger Lee says:

Damn I held out in buying from the Japanese PS store, but I can’t stand the wait…
I have been dying to have a real fighter online. this and VF need online play. Fighting friends who lose constantly, due to the fact they mainly obsess over WOW where as I obsess ove Tekken, just doesn’t cut it I need to learn new techniques by getting my ass kicked. They should have released it in the same form as it appears on the Japanese site, then worked out the bugs later through patches.

  39. Bud0's avatar Bud0 says:

I THINK EVERONE SHOULD BBQ AND CHILL BECAUSE THE MORE YOU RUSH NAMCO TO FINISH THIS PRODUCT THE MORE PROBLEMS IT WILL HAVE!!! LET THEM FIX THE BUGS SO THAT EVERYTHING WILL RUN SMOOTH!!! GEEZ AND BTW WILL THE PSP VERSION BE ONLINE???? WHEN WILL THE MOVIE COME OUT????
