Tekken® 6 Commercial Launches: Hits Hard with Holyfield, Barnett, Escobedo and Long Line of Luminaries
SANTA CLARA, Calif.—NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. announced today the release of a unique commercial featuring the likes of 4-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Evander Holyfield, MMA standout Josh Barnett and professional boxer Vicente Escobedo, who will this weekend vie for the WBO World Lightweight Boxing Championship.
The live-action advertisement was produced in association with Tekken 6, the latest installment in the No. 1 fighting game franchise of all time. Featuring vignettes of fighters in different disciplines at different stages of their careers, the creative trailer marks a first for NAMCO BANDAI Games in a number of areas.
“We took a completely hands-on approach to this project, ensuring the great nuances of Tekken were evidenced through these great fighters in every second of the spot,” says In Joon Hwang, Tekken 6 brand manager. “As far as I know, it’s the first time our Company has directly participated in such an initiative, from script writing through production and post. It was a very cool exercise, and we hope the public is moved by the end result.”
Also a first for NAMCO BANDAI, the 3 min.-plus, live-action commercial is slated for distribution today entirely on the Web: on Tekken.com, through social media outlets and in conjunction with the Company’s media partners and through its Tekken fan base.
In addition to Holyfield, Barnett and Escobedo, the roster of talent for the Tekken 6 commercial included 1984 Olympic and Pan American Games Gold-Medalist Henry Tillman; 6th-Degree Kenpo Practitioner Tommy Wish; 4-time World Muay Thai Champion William “The Bull” Sriyapai; defending World Youth Boxing Champion Peter “Lil Pete” Duran; Light-Welter Weight MMA Champion Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy; 5-time National Boxing Champion, 2010 Pan American Games team member and 2012 Olympic Team hopeful Patricia Manuel; professional skateboarder and MMA fighter Jason Ellis; TapouT Clothing founders Punkass and Skyscrape; professional sumo wrestler Tamir “the Giant Killer” Dolgormaa; and 2008 Olympian and professional boxer Javier Molina.
“Tekken has for more than a decade showcased a diverse cross-section of martial arts styles, varying cultures, and a deep storyline that evokes human motivations as distinct as the characters in the franchise,” says NAMCO BANDAI’s Alain Mazer, who executive produced and creative-directed the spot. “The chance to feature the unique sensibilities of real professional fighters, highlighting their motivations in their own words in an authentic way, was a fun and affective way to underscore the legacy that drives the Tekken brand in a way that’s cool for existing and new fans alike.”

First. lol
I’m so hyped – thanks for all the updates, Mr. Markman <3 – you rock
blindghost my man, how much time do you spend on sdtekken? and I don’t mean that in a derogatory manner, I’m just wondering, ‘cuz you seem to be on it a lot.
Well let me tell you a little something Farhan.
Basically , I love Tekken to Death ive been playing it since i was a kid. i use to walk for 2 hours just so i can play it at funcoland daily after school, or toys R’us , which ever had it displayed. Sometimes funcoland but sometimes i had to walk extra long to play it at Toys’ R us.
Its always made me happy, it never gets old. even though everyone hated T4 i fucking loved it.
and i still own it and play it to this day, i popped it in about 2 months ago and played with jin a couple of matches.
LASER SCRAPER Charge FTW !!!!
Sure i play the occasional RPG or action games.
Final Fantasy , NINJ GAIDEN SIGMA , OKAMI . But they get old fast you beat them, you beat them again, and your pretty much done.
Tekken is that one game that keeps you coming back.
and no other sites pays more attention to it like this site does.
you can go to GAMEFAQS, but you can’t express your self A.K.A curse/swear. your limited, i can go to Kotaku, but that site is full of fucking 13 year olds.
the Kotaku Readers are best described as “Video Game Queers” you knwo how you go to an Art gallery and theres all these Homos wearing white Tuxedos with glasses and Martini Glass ??
Thats the Kotaku Readership They are the Snoby Homosexuals of Video games.
They talk a lot of shit and comment on the ART/Video games like they know something and they use big words.
But in reality they dont know shit, they talk out of their ass. about any game. and they think they are articulate.
All they do there when the Kotaku Editors put up a new article relating to something they are not into. they bash it. with big words.
There was i think 3 guys that liked Tekken 6 in the comment section.
and they got bombarded by comments like tekken isnt what is use to be, i rather play street fighter , Its just another generic fighter, honestly i could never get into it like i did with SF, and so on and so forth.
This is the only site that is well suited for me, i got people just as passionate about Tekken as i am, they Understand why tekken is badass and why its deep and more importantly why its #1.
they knwo that its the # 1 Fighting game on the planet. and We can express our selfs how ever we want.
I dont have to be articulate and use big words to tell a fucking troll to FUCK OFF !!!
i can just TELL HIM TO FUCK OFF and that Hes a HOMO ! LMAO XD.
Its the only site i got and the only one i can relate to. so all my time goes to this site.
Your an Imposter… Your not BLIND GHOST !!!!!
Im BLIND GHOST !!!!
NO, BOTH OF YOU ARE IMPOSTORS! I’m the true REAL blind ghost
W. T. F !?!?!?!? HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER !!!!!!
