The TEKKEN 6 console patch is coming this week! Just in time for Thanksgiving! For full details on the changes and improvements to the TEKKEN 6 experience, click below for all the details! Thanks TEKKEN TEAM and Namco Bandai Games, Inc.!
NAMCO BANDAI Games today released further details about the forthcoming free downloadable update designed to improve the online game experience for players of TEKKEN 6 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The update is scheduled for release on 26th November. The update is separate from the online co-op Scenario Campaign mode download which is scheduled for release separately this winter.
Online gameplay enhancements in the update include the following:
- Improved input response: improvement of the game’s responsiveness to button / command inputs;
- Selectable search priorities for ranked matches: players will be able to set search priorities for opponents in ranked matches based on comparable rank or connection quality as well as location;
- Optimized data transmission between fighters and spectators: fight data will be optimized in order to reduce the bandwidth load on the host’s console;
- Signal strength bars: the signal strength bar will reflect connection quality more accurately;
- Chance to cancel match: players will be able to cancel the match before it begins once the opponent’s signal strength has been displayed on ranked matches.
The team at NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc is committed to delivering the best possible experience with TEKKEN 6 and would like to thank the thousands of fans all over the world for their invaluable feedback. Let the sixth King of Iron Fist Tournament continue.
SHWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
I HOPE THEY GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME.
it will, dont worry.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!
Finally I can dare to play on the internet. I was waiting for this and polishing my moves offline.
I would never play on the internet if the gameplay had that much lag that everyone was screaming about. Now I can hopefully give the net a try.
gonna be doped on that turkey…
I’ll end up being laggy because of the turkey from thanksgiving! XD
By the way, I wasn’t responding to you in that other topic- I was responding to the loser who responded to you.
Uh-Hem.
Its all good. no probs.

Namco better get this right.
it will dont worry
great news
They better have got this right this time. I still think we needed an option to disable Voice chat as this can contribute to the lag as well. Most online fighters have this option.
Otherwise it sounds good. I hope it isnt too good to be true….
Cant wait because they said they rewrote it when we asked if it was going to be a better experience in comparison to T5dr. Markman refused to talk about it during video and audio interiews. Shut up and show me the money. I’ll believe when I see it.
I said show me the money and I got the money. The shit is smooth as hell. I kinda dont feel the lag at all. Fuck it, it aint lagging at green#4 and 5, (forgot the color)#3 inst bad but slight latency- still playable. red lower is probably going to cut you off but thank goodness that it no longer penalizes you for connection loss anymore. Thank you namco. You made my day and beyond. I got people that are fps players training in theis game after a long wait now after the patch, there wont be victories, losses do to lag and now more about skill!!!! Let the real time battles begin.
P.S.
Now we can start the fuckin online tournaments!!!!!
About Time
It Would Be Cool If You Could Look At The Command List While Waitin On Your Turn To Fight.
im thrilled but im enjoying offline nyway
what about being able to record matches from player matches? seeing people (or the rank) on a room before I go on it.
Also, please guys, stay focused on comments here.
Anyone who starts offending people, no warnings, I will outright bann you from this site.
I’m not sure I agree with allowing players to cancel ranked matches before they begin. Now that we can filter by connection quality, why would this be needed?
Finding someone to play with in T5DR could take ages if you were high ranked, because everyone would wuss out.
Hopefully you will only see the connection quality and not the opponent’s rank when you have a chance to opt out of the match.
We’ll see how this goes. Not getting my hopes up though. VenoM362 hopes Namco proves him wrong. Any word on if they will have an offline patch (ghost battle ranks)? Or do they not give a damn about that?
I’m just asking…
I think we might need ot wait for the winter patch for any other fixes which are not online specific.
I agree though there should be seperate rankings for offline.
Great news. I have hope for it being great in the end. We trust you, Namco :)
Markman
Any word if they are restting the leaderboards when this goes live? I think it really needs to happen.
Izzy, anyone who would think about doing that is most probably going to be easy cannon fodder for the high ranker anyway. I’m all for it because I’m sick of fighting guys from spain and sweden with 1 bar connection, yet I’m the bad guy for exiting the game.
It still doesn’t fix half the things that needs to be fixed, and like someone else up there said: I’ll believe it when I see it.
Also I was meaning to ask has anyone ripped the Tekken comic to upload/megaupload/rapidshare?
Its About time
Thank you Namco Bandai..Can I have a free Tekken 6 shirt?
FUCK YEAH, AT LEAST I HOPE IT IS GONNA BE SO MUCH BETTER THAN DR AND SOMEWHERE CLOSE TO SF4, OH AND BY THE CHECKING THE CONNECTION OF YOUR OPPNENT AND HAVING ABILITY TO CANCEL A MATCH CUZ HE OR SHE HAS A CRAPY CONNECTION IS A REALLY COOL IDEA FOR A RANK MATCH
if you said tekken 6 blows tekken 5 out of the water, you are a hundred perfect right!
OMFG. . .the psp version is fucking incredible!
at least the console ports are still good though, when you gonna realize that.(ps3,x360)
in regards to the psp version, i agree.
It’s about time now let’s see how it works out.
Command Caputre>Better Online
so this comes out in lyk 2 days in australia? hope the update is promising i was recently playing soulcal iv with a mate and even that had a beter online play.
but yay soo geed for this
Omg, is Namco actually listening? This sounds too good to be true! Thank goodness!
No record function = still fail
didn’t expect that so soon
Rumors r saying the patch is going to be 4G’s
So far it seems from people who have somehow got the patch early, this is going to be slightly worse than SFIV. Im pretty disapointed because the technology has been available for years (GGPO) to remove input lag yet the major developers are not using it.
Well at least it will be way more playable, but they really need to reset the ranks and leaderboards imo…
TBH, tekken 6 is ten times better than tekken 5
am i the only one who likes the campaign mode? i find it very fun to play!
Count me in. i’m still enjoying campaign mode :)
That’s true!
Campaign mode has a bit of role playing elements as well. And it is easier to earn more money if you have items that double money or the dropping rate and so on…
I think the Campaign mode is not so bad as all the reviewers think. I enjoyed it alot!
am i the only one who likes the campaign mode?
so 27th for Australia? looking forward to it i can finally play some online…
Markman,
So this patch focused purely on improving the online? Where there any other changes?
Mainly, in regards to no 2p local customization being fixed?
namco havent said anything on that as yet, so dont hold your breath…
maybe for winter patch which add’s co-op to scenario mode. More importantly really is the practise mode record function. Serious players need this.
and for crying out loud namco please, please give us an option to adjust hud positions, those life bars are way too low….
That’s great news and all but I’ll keep my expectations to a minimum. I highly doubt this patch will fix up the lag 100% but if I’m proved wrong, I’ll be a very happy man.
Oh and sorry about the comments in the last update. Just that ignorant people can be pretty annoying.
no 2p customization and no command capture=fail
Im happy the patch its been released this fast though i have doubts this will mean a nice online experience like sf4, well if its on TK5DR level I would be able to play somewhat ok with people in my city which is something :/
Im sad they havent released a 2p customization tweak, that seems so easy and would have really made me happy, no 2p customization offline sucks so much…
@ Darkf0rge Says. no flame but please get over the hud position. theres beter stuff to improve than the HUD -.-
fuck them.
no improvement in offline play
This update is only for onlineplay. There is another update for offlineplay incoming ;)
I just want a practice mode that will allow me poo in my bathroom while im playing, even if my bathroom is in a completely different room and i can’t see the tv.
If it’s even as good as DRO at this point, I’d be satisfied enough to play every once in a while online. How Namco left out so many CRUCIAL details to certain things remains a mystery… Let’s hope for the best
Any news about 2P Customization?
I want you guys to try and post a thread off topic on tekkenzaibatsu and see how dumb you feel with the Tekken 5 &6 comparison crap. cmon with that.
Is it gonna be released at midnight??????
@ coilover2005 u would be satisfied if it’s as good as t5dr??? oh come one dr was freaking laggy and this patch needs to make online connection much better than dr.
Good, I only played online twice and they didn’t even last long. Am glad. Also I hope the winter patch has the campaign mode co-op offline as well not just only online. You know am sure people have friends and family that visit who would love to join in and play. This will make me even more happy.
But… patch for recording in practice mode?
Customization 2p ?
@ tekken lover. Ummm… Ok. BRO is terrible in SO many ways at the moment it’s not even funny. You can’t even juggle with Lili hitting Df+2 after a hopkick 80-90% of the time consistently with “green” bars. THAT”S PRETTY BAD. So yeah… IMO I would much rather settle for another Half arse version of DRO then play this garbage.
DRO was bad don’t get me wrong pal. It was “SOME WHAT” playable though. It even had a fun factor to it if you played people with etiquette. I’m hoping for the best with this patch, hopefully wiping DRO outta the wate just like everyone else is but at this point i’d settle for another few years of DR netcode then this.
So far people who have got the patch early have had positive impressions. I will be writing a long winded email of thanks to namco if they have gotten this right and advise all my friends to buy the game.
As for Offline SC mode co-op. Harada has already confirmed that this will not happen due to technical limitation with hardware and inherent gameplay problems with two people being on the same screen
This is a little different than vs mode, play your friend and family on that….
Lets hope the Dec/jan patch resolves the other problems with the game such as no 2p customisations, no record in practise mode and my own personal pet peave, the lack of hd adjustment options
hurray namco!?
just got the patch right now:
2 bars is the normal kind of lag you get pre-patch.
3 bars very playable.
4 bars and up and you got yourself a good game.
thanks namco!
Online patch for PS3 update is now live for NA. Pretty good update. I can definitely enjoy 4 and 5 rated matches.
I Just Installed It And When I Did My 1st Room Search MarkManSDT Was At Top Of List. He Closed Room B4 I Could Play. Damn. None Of The Rooms Showed Good Signals Tho.
Online is extremely good. Three bars is very good, didnt notice any lag. played about 20 matches on xbox, 10 on PS3. And only lagged a bit in one instance where the bars kept switching between 2 and 4. Overall… lets just say Tekken 6 officially dominates all fighting games.
Hopefully with the new patch, Tekken will sell a lot more copies. The game definitely deserves it.
thanx namco me play more
Thank the heavens it works good job namco.
The patch is a miracle. 4 bars is great and 5 plays like heaven.
Excellent work!!!
I had absolutely no faith in Namco to release anything near to a decent netcode, and I am eating my own foot right now, because IMO it’s actually a very good patch.
Of course its not GGPO quality but I have been getting what’s seems to be almost flawless matches with Green connection. I havent had a teal one yet but that should come as more people realise the patch has delivered beyond expectations. Even some orange connections where more than fine and everyone of them was better than the previous teal connections pre patch!
All the options are well thought out and good additions, my only complaint is that they didn’t reset the leaderboards.
This is better than DRO by far, it’s better than SCIV I would say it may even be better than SFIV’s netcode (Although a little early to tell, and thats not really such a great achievement)
Lets hope this gets people excited about the game again and pushes up the sales so Namco can justify that promise of supporting the game well after release, and goes through with it.
Looking to the december/Jan SC co-op patch to;
Add hud options to adjust low lifebars and removal of clutter
Record in Practise mode
2p customisations
Offline ranking’s (seperate from online)
If all this is added I think we would have about a perfect game as we could expect on this gen’s hardware.
The patch is okay. Not great, but better than crap, which is what it was before. Somehow I get the feeling that the online wasn’t even finished when the game was released. The preview copies didn’t even have online yet, right?
Also, I don’t mean to spam it up but since the previous article was closed, how long is the Tekken manga going to go? It’s actually not as bad as I expected.
4s and 5s are good for the most part now. 3s aren’t worth messing with in my experience. Definitely a lot better than DRO at this point.
wow ahha major gamer addicts here. 4 – 5 bars i dont even see lag, 3 (teal) are beter than green bars befor the patch, as it was stated no game can be lagless without some GGpo crap or whtever u call it.
I know you’ve been getting some flack lately Markman, but this netcode is really great.
You deserve some props,
Thanks
It’s so much smoother now, to say the very least- as smooth as SFIV online. I’m not used to playing Tekken online like this, by far.
there seems to be a bug, i cant play with certain players it says, search failed or something, anybody here know how to fix this?
Good job Namco this is better than dr i think. Keep up the good work.
– Command recording
– Adjustable HUD position
– Let me config the 2P controller (this is the first FG that doesn’t allow for different players to use different configs)
– 2P Customization
– Less loadings
And many more things to fix…
Now I’m a believer, Great Job to Namco for improving the online service on both system.
If you have loading problems, make sure the game is installed to hard drive because it helps alot. I seriously don’t see an issue with load times once it’s installed.
yo markman as we all love tekken crash, but it would even greater if japan play vs korea in tekken i know they had these types of tournaments in T5dr but what about tekken 6? do you know anything about this? is there any news on this one?
