Namco has confirmed that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ONLINE for the PlayStation Network will be available at the end of August for North America! With just one more release week for the PSN in August, that narrows down the release date to August 30th! So mark your calendars, cancel plans, and put on a diaper, ONLINE ownage is coming! …and of course, the wonderful practice mode. Thank you Namco! :)

We originally put our money on both August 16th, then the following August 23rd as the forthcoming release date for T5DR ONLINE in the US… Sadly it is not coming out this week! But it is coming, SOON! Namco Bandai Games Inc. is working on some quality issues with the title for American gamers and while there is no concrete date, it is soon. How soon? “Within the next couple of weeks…” as told to us by Namco from their Online Gaming media event which happened earlier tonight. So there you have it folks! Release date for USA is to be announced. But be rest assured the wait is ALMOST over!

At the Sony Playstation Premiere event in Japan just yesterday, Namco Bandai Games announced that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ONLINE will launch in Japan this August! In other news, as expected, NBGI also announced that Tekken 6 will have online play!

Electric Cancel 6.5 took place at the Brens Event Center at UC Irvine this past weekend on the lucky day of 7/7/7 (Also 20th Anniversary of Metal Gear!). Our friends over at SHORYUKEN.COM have been working on a special project, the likes of which we have never experienced before! GGPO is an all new approach to online fighting games. Let’s face it, fighting games online have never been that fun… Until now! After participating in the public alpha release of GGPO we are very pleased with the results! This is a revolutionary step forward for fighting games online, no longer are the competitive gamers hindered by lag or latency issues… For once we can play and showcase our true skills! After tasting great online play for a fighting game, I can only hope that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ONLINE plays anywhere close to good as GGPO! With the recent announcement of Tekken 5: DR going online, their fighting game cousin, Soul Calibur is now confirmed for ONLINE play as well! According to 1UP.COM’s latest information, Soul Calibur IV for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 will feature online play as well as other network features! This should be a good indication that Tekken 6 will be online for home consoles as well! Click below for the full report!
